Vintage Bill Huebee Style Figurative Monkey as Chimney Sweep Table Lamp

A hand painted table lamp made in the style of Bill Huebee and his fantastic collection of figural Monkeys and Gorillas envisioned as costumed human like characters. Since there are no marks on the piece to confirm its maker we can certainly point to Huebee as the inspiration for this fantasy driven table lamp. (Or maybe from the Planet of the Apes Movie franchises)

The lamp prominently features a resin figural ape groomed with a black neatly trimmed beard and is costumed to resemble a turn of the century chimney sweep. He’s dressed in a red coat over a gold toned vest over a white ruffle collared blouse and wears dark green knickers tucked into black leather boots. He dons a green slouchy cap with gold highlights atop his head. He stands on a gold toned platform that is supported by an expanding tiered plinth that is painted in tones of alternating dark green and partial gilt. The man-inmal primate has his arms wrapped around what appear to be thick gold scrolling torches. His facial appearance is as solemn as a palace guard. The lighting fixture is a brass rod that is attached behind the ape figure and is molded to center a lamp shade. (no lamp shade, harp or finial are included)

This playful Regency lamp is naturally suited in a children’s room however it is a balance of fantasy and also has an elegant flare to it at the same time. and can serve as a great design lighting element from living room to library due to its eclectic nature.
