Mid 19th Century Victorian Sewing Box

This elegant, hand-painted antique sewing table was created in England circa 1880. Standing on a rectangular base with hand carved gilded detail over a thick carved central stem, the cabinet built of “Papier-Mache”, has a black lacquered finish embellished with a regal peacock, floral motifs and gilt decor. The interior and cache segments are covered with velvet.
