A magnificent and overscaled Fire Surround by a master Mexican woodcarver.

This piece features heavy, high-relief carving on the face and both sides of the mantel, as well as three sides of each leg.

The mantel header’s face is carved from a single piece of pine, while the legs feature a single piece of applied molding on three sides.

Details include a center-point anchored by a Mexican reinterpretation of the Medieval “Green Man”, Daisies, Deeply Carved Rococo Style Shells, and Cornucopias of Tulips and Leaves flanking the Green Man.

Natural, oiled pine with sporadic wood aging around the piece.

Mid to Late 20th century.
